Questions we get asked

Our spreadsheet is really complicated — can you actually replace it?

Complicated spreadsheets are usually simple processes wearing years of workarounds. We start by mapping what it actually does, then build only that — most 'monster workbooks' become surprisingly clean systems.

What do internal tools cost to build?

Can we keep using Excel for some things?

Absolutely — Excel is brilliant at analysis. We take it off infrastructure duty: the system holds the truth, and you can export to Excel whenever you like.

How disruptive is switching?

Low by design: we run the new system alongside the old spreadsheet until your team trusts it, then retire the workbook with honours.

What can a dashboard actually connect to?

Most things a business already pays for: accounts packages, payment providers, your own database, spreadsheets, website figures, stock and courier systems. The test is whether the system will hand its data over automatically. Nearly all modern ones will; the occasional old one has to be read a different way, and that gets checked during scoping rather than discovered afterwards.

How live is live?

As live as it needs to be, which is not always as live as it sounds. Takings and jobs in flight are worth having up to the minute. A monthly margin figure recalculating every thirty seconds costs more to build and tells you nothing new, so it is refreshed on a sensible schedule instead.

Do we have to move all our data somewhere first?

No. A dashboard reads from where things already live, so nothing has to be ripped out or migrated before you get value from it. That is deliberate — it means a dashboard is usually the cheapest useful thing to build first, and it often shows you which system to replace next.
